the red collar is what they put on the dusky geese and if you shoot one of the dusky's you are done for the season so that is a target bird for the last part of the season. There are not many dusky's so they collar a lot of them. If you shoot one you have a good chance to get a collar.

so what's the difference between a dusky and they other geese?
if you get one are you done goose hunting all together for the season ?
can you not shoot any more of any goose or what.
I'm new to waterfowl so I have no Idea but that's what I'm here for.

In Idaho don't worry about it shoot them all. This was in oregon they have permit zones. You have to check your birds in every day you hunt which is only wednesday saturday and sunday. If you shoot a dusky you are done for the entire season. No matter what time of year it is so they shoot them about late february durring their spring hunt. When the staff of FowlMouth Outdoors went down there this year our last day of hunting we were targeting a red collar but no such luck. He shot this bird about a week after we were there.

yea in oregon you have to take a test to hunt in the permit zones because they have so many different species or canada's there

In our neck of the words like ontario or adrian you don't have to take the test
